Based in Atlanta, Terry's innovative floral arrangements draw inspiration from her travels throughout Europe and Asia, where she studied international floral design trends and techniques.
With a passion for sustainability and a deep appreciation for Japanese Ikebana design, Terry's art fuses the exotic and the natural to create imaginative and long-lasting displays of orchids, mosses, fresh flowers, air plants, and terrariums.
As a certified Professor of the Ikenobo School of Ikebana with over thirty years of experience studying under Senei Ikenobo, Terry's work is steeped in tradition and has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Rebecca Wight Cherry Sims Trophy at the Southeastern Flower Show for multiple years
Her clients include the United Nations, Waldorf Astoria in New York, Mitsubishi, NOBU Restaurant and Hotel, Tiffany & Co, the Waldorf Astoria in Atlanta, Marvel Studios, and multiple residential and commercial developments.
To further her commitment to sustainability, Terry founded Terry Furuta Designs, a company that creates beautiful floral arrangements while reducing the industry's impact on the environment. Her unique designs are showcased in containers handmade by local Atlanta artisans, and her work has been featured in Veranda, Luxe, Southern Accents, Four Seasons Magazine, Atlanta Magazine, and numerous other media outlets.
When she's not designing, Terry volunteers as an orchid dresser at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, where she has won the People's Choice Award from the Atlanta Orchid Society for ten consecutive years along with many trophies and Blue ribbons. She also shares her passion for plants and terrariums by teaching K-12 students in local Atlanta schools.
